SCOTT A. MAUTNER JOINS THE FIRM AS OF COUNSEL
We are pleased to announce that Scott Mautner has joined Lachtman Cohen & Belowich LLP as Of Counsel in the firm’s Transactional Group, effective April 1, 2025.
Scott has over 30 years of experience handling complex corporate transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, venture financings, and commercial loans and refinancings. Scott has represented companies at all stages of their life cycle, from start-up to exit, and regularly acts as outside general counsel to companies of all sizes. Scott also represents clients in the acquisition, sale, financing and leasing of commercial real estate.
“We’re excited to welcome Scott to the firm,” said David Lachtman, Co-Managing Partner and Chair of the firm’s Transactional Group. “His extensive background in corporate and real estate law and practical, client-focused perspective will be a tremendous asset to our team. Having known Scott for many years, I’m certain that he will strengthen our ability to deliver strategic, high-level counsel to our clients, who will benefit immediately from his expertise.”
Scott was named a “Super Lawyer” in the 2022, 2023, and 2024 New York Metro editions of Super Lawyers Magazine for Corporate Law, and by Westchester Magazine as the “Best M&A Attorney” in Westchester in its 2022 “Best Lawyers” issue. In addition, a recent transaction that Scott handled for one of his clients won “Materials Deal of the Year” at the 22nd Annual M&A Advisor Awards.
Brian Cohen and Brian Belowich, Litigation Group Co-Chairs and Co-Managing Partners, added: “We’re continuing to grow a remarkable team, and the addition of Scott, a highly accomplished and successful corporate lawyer, is a testament to that vision. We’re certain that Scott brings not only exceptional legal talent, but also a deep commitment to the values and culture of excellence, teamwork, and collegiality that distinguishes our firm.”
Earlier in his career, Scott served as the General Counsel and a member of the C-Suite for several technology, media and telecom companies. Two of the companies were venture/private equity backed, and Scott regularly worked with the investors on board and operational matters. Scott’s senior management leadership experience provides him with unique insight into both commercial and legal issues facing clients and allows him to offer specialized strategic guidance and practicable solutions in addressing client needs. That experience has also informed his approach to working in a cost-efficient manner.
Scott received his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law and his Bachelor of Business Administration, with distinction, from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
Scott is admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut.
